Description

The story itself is quite charming throughout and I was surprised at how many adult issues they were able to work on throughout the running time. There's no doubt that the animation is the star of this picture and we're really treated to some wonderful images. It's those characters that make the film work in the end, especially Joy, whose sunny disposition gives the film its energy and attitude. Young Riley was perfectly content with her life when her father landed a new job in San Francisco, and the family moved across the country.

Paths to Pixar: The Women of Inside Out" (11:22) offers a well-edited group of interviews with women from the cast and crew on the film (including Poehler, Kaling and Smith), who discuss the development of their personalities and their careers, including their dreams and the ways they pursued them. Everyone has a story about life, growing up and feeling the pain of losing a friend whose family uprooted and left to parts-unknown. In his spare time, he enjoys watching hockey, writing and spending time with his wife, daughter and puppy. Anyway, after all the hype, which always puts me off a film, because if it's any good, it should sell itself, without all the marketing and toys to go with it.

It was way too adult for kids, and way too childish for adults; there were some great moments and one or two really fun scenes, but there were also long stretches of fairly bland, almost tedious, material which has NEVER been the case in previous offerings from this studio. With that mindset, Insight Out, the story of how the mind of a young girl changes with adolescence, was a shot directly to the heart. However, after a slight mishap at Headquarters, the situation gets out of hand, causing Riley's emotional state to worsen. This is an area of filmmaking most people never think about, and this featurette shines a bit of light on its difficulty and importance.

Dvd is fun for all the family, our 2 year old loves it and so does her 85 year old Great Grandparents. This film is loaded with challenging material, whether it's the glass memory balls or the detail of the memory archives.

This is certainly excellent once our adventure begins as there's a "long term memory" section where these wonderful color marble like things are collection. However, if Smith is perfect as Sadness, Kind was born to play Bing Bong, giving genuine heart to a naturally over-the-top character. The final piece is "Mind Candy" (14:26), a seemingly random collection of clips, some of which seem like animation tests, while others are full-fledged bits focused on the different emotions (and are quite enjoyable. Subtitles: English Hard of Hearing, Italian DVD Regions: Region 2 Formats: Pal Aspect Ratio: Widescreen 1. Then there's the trailer for Japan (2:30), which is exceedingly heavy-handed in explaining the film and pushing the drama.

Without Joy or Sadness to comfort her in the transition, Riley begins to lose all feeling as she becomes emotionally frustrated and contemplates running away back to Minnesota.
