In other episodes, numerous other monsters were also captured by the military: Giant Mutant Hummingbirds, The Shrewster, numerous monsters from the Mutant Mania circus, and numerous monsters from the Spiel Coliseum. In Godzilla: Rulers of Earth, an entire chain of islands dubbed the "Monster Islands" is set aside to contain captured monsters.

As you can probably appreciate from this rundown, there’s a fair amount of upkeep and admin to keep the game flowing – and that slows down the action. Gameplay alternates Boss/Player/Boss/Player, etc goes until the Monsters beat the Boss (cooperatively), the Boss defeats any Monster, 3 pylons are built, or there are no Minions in the bag!

Players will need to work together to survive the various attacks and minions dealt out by whichever enemy they have chosen – with each available boss monster presenting their own level of difficulty and behaviours. Minions can also help build pylons, but mostly they do damage to players, or shield other minions from damage.

Monster Island was originally supposed to appear in TriStar's Godzilla 2, which is the cancelled sequel to the 1998 film. I should have loved Alien Uprising: cooperative, cool space theme, cool Aliens theme, and a Richard Lanius game!
