Meaco’s own noise measurements, taken in a sealed chamber using calibrated microphones at 1m from all four sides, measured noise levels at between 38dB and 40dB for the 20L model and 40 and 42dB for the 25L model. Because we understand that you don’t want a huge, complicated and inflexible dehumidifier in your home, we’ve designed the MeacoDry ‘ABC’ range to fit right in with your lifestyle. As with all refrigerant dehumidifiers, there is a sharp drop-off in efficiency as the temperature falls though. A super way to extract potentially damaging excess moisture from the air in your home, or to assist with drying washing indoors. Pay in 3 is a form of credit, may not be suitable for everyone and use may affect your credit score.

Featuring the latest low-noise and energy saving technology the 12 litre MeacoDry 'ABC' is the quietest compressor dehumidifiers from Meaco, making it the most effective and practical dehumidifying solution for the home. Last night, when going to bed, I accidentally hit the laundry mode function, before quickly switching it back to normal dehumidifying and then night mode. If you’re dehumidifying a seriously damp space or one that’s been flooded, then you may have to empty more often. The low speed is perfect if you want to maintain a certain humidity level with minimal noise (more on the ABC’s quiet operation in a moment), while the high speed reduces humidity faster. One thing to note about this machine is that it doesn’t come with a HEPA filter or air purification mode.

Both of those models have a lower maximum extraction rate, however, so Meaco has done a great job of keeping the ABC slim and compact. This size of unit is especially useful in smaller homes and flats because of its size and Quiet Mark award-winning operation. In a small bedroom with damp and mould issues, I saw the humidity fall from 67% to 52% within a couple of hours, and I had to force the target down to 45% to keep the purifier busy. There is a recessed handle, but portability is one area the MeacoDry ABC lags behind other machines. If you’re looking for a dehumidifier for a conservatory or garden room, this one should be up to the job for most of the year, although I’d still recommend a desiccant dehumidifier for use in colder areas and colder months. Got to admit it confused me for a while as I was wondering if there was a power cut while I was sleeping or if the machine had a fault. It's not quite perfect - given the humming noise, the relatively small tank capacity, and that it's got no wheels to assist in moving it - but you'll be thankful for all the good it's doing, which you're reminded of each time you empty its condensing water tank. The latter function runs the dehumidifier at maximum speed for 6 hours to quickly dry clothes without increasing the humidity in your home. That tank is easily removable by sliding it out from the rear of the product - although it's a little messy to pour it away when full without sploshing some excess water about.

It’s designed to extract water and reduce humidity in the average 2 bedroom home or flat, with a maximum extraction capacity of 12 litres per day. there is no doubt that the quality of the dehumidifiers has improved over the years, especially the DD8L range. But when you need serious drying power, you need a dehumidifier that’s up to the job – and here the Arete One has you covered. The MeacoDry ‘ABC’ can be practical remedy for moisture issues in your home such as damp, condensation, and can even be used as an alternative to your tumble dryer. Clearly, however, even such modern extraction isn't good enough - as pointed out by the Meaco's relative humidity level on its display - and is the reason why we'll continue to use the ABC 12L Dehumidifier every single day.The ABC does exactly what it’s designed to do: quickly reduce humidity in the average UK home with minimal noise output and energy consumption. This is on par with other Meaco Low Energy dehumidifiers, such as the 12L model we’ve previously reviewed.

This will run for six hours, although dehumidification will stop once the relative humidity hits 32%. Once it gets there, it’ll go into standby, checking every half an hour that the humidity hasn’t crept back up again. There’s also a continuous drainage option that bypasses the tank, allowing you to release the water directly into a drain or sink. The pressure-sensitive keys, clear indicators and digital display make it easy to switch between modes and keep an eye on the current humidity levels. This particular MeacoDry is the 12L model which, as its name suggests, can extract up to 12 litres of liquid a day (in 80 per cent relative humidity) - it's got nothing to do with the condensing tank's capacity. The Arete One is at its noisiest in clothes drying mode, where you’re looking at sound levels of over 50dB and power consumption of over 208W. Boasting the very latest noise reducing and energy efficient features, the 12 litre MeacoDry ‘ABC’ is an Ultra-Quiet compressor dehumidifier, making it the most effective and practical dehumidifying solution for the home.
