About this deal

I also confirmed that the new Type-C USB port supported power delivery by connecting the MeLE Quieter3C directly to a Dell monitor without separately connecting power:

B . Press the power button and press F7 or Delete continuously to enter into select boot device menu. Select your USB flash disk to install Ubuntu. configuration: broadcast=yes driver=iwlwifi driverversion=5.15.0-47-generic firmware=66.f1c864e0.0 QuZ-a0-hr-b0-66.u latency=0 link=no multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11 MeLE has released a new and updated version of the Quieter mini PC called the Quieter3Q. Like before, it is a passive mini PC but now features the latest low-powered Intel Celeron Jasper Lake CPU and an upgraded PCIe 3.0 x2 M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slot. MeLE has kindly sent one for review and I’ve looked at performance running both Windows and Ubuntu and connecting an eGPU. MeLE Quieter3Q Hardware Overview Linux Quieter3C 5.15.0-46-generic #49-Ubuntu SMP Thu Aug 4 18:03:25 UTC 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/LinuxSystem: Kernel: 5.15.0-46-generic x86_64 bits: 64 Console: pty pts/1 Distro: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish) System: Kernel: 5.15.0-47-generic x86_64 bits: 64 Console: pty pts/1 Distro: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish) Essentially the MeLE Quieter HD3Q is an improved and slightly larger Quieter3Q. The increased power limit under Windows and the inclusion of dual-channel memory is evident in the ‘Heaven’ benchmarks and will no doubt benefit any potential eGPU configuration. Despite the higher thermals and exterior surface temperature, the mini PC performs well without adverse thermal throttling. Highlights

The Quieter3Q offers a notable improvement over its predecessor. Whilst the physical appearance and external port configuration are similar, both the CPU and iGPU are more powerful and the M.2 NVMe slot is now PCIe Gen 3 rather than Gen 2 resulting in a doubling of bandwidth which is significant when you only get two lanes. Highlights Additionally, there is soldered-on WiFi 6 (or 802.11ax) as well as the ability to add an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD drive: configuration: autonegotiation=on broadcast=yes driver=r8169 driverversion=5.15.0-33-generic duplex=full firmware=rtl8168h-2_0.0.2 02/26/15 ip= latency=0 link=yes multicast=yes port=twisted pair speed=1Gbit/s configuration: autonegotiation=on broadcast=yes driver=r8169 driverversion=5.15.0-47-generic duplex=full firmware=rtl8168h-2_0.0.2 02/26/15 ip= latency=0 link=yes multicast=yes port=twisted pair speed=1Gbit/sIf the CPU frequency is monitored during the stress test it can be seen that the initial temperature peak is caused by the CPU running at an average of 2734 MHz for the ‘PL1’ duration after which it thermal throttles and drops to an average frequency of 2427 MHz to prevent overheating: I then set the CPU Scaling Governor to ‘performance’ and ran my Linux benchmarks for which the majority of the results are text-based but the graphical ones included: which, as per the specification, was indeed data only and did not support power delivery. I used a Samsung 1TB 980 NVMe SSD in my Asus PN41 and one reason I chose that drive is that it doesn't have any DRAM cache which means it runs cooler than some other SSDs. However, the PN41 has a dedicated metal heat sink for the M.2/NVMe slot which is attached with screws to the very sturdy metal frame of the PN41 (no metal coated plastic in the PN41). That's one of the features you will get with a better built mini PC although I have no proof that such features really offer any significant advantages. But the Asus PN41 is very well built with a very good range of i/o -- five USB ports with one at 10Gb/s, one serial/com port, 2.5Gb/s ethernet, and a max memory of 32GB, dual channel, as confirmed on my system although not often listed by Asus.Multi I/O ports for computer peripheral devices, 3 x USB3.0, 1 x full function Type C,1 x mini DP, 1 x HDMI2.0. Communication controller [0780]: Intel Corporation Management Engine Interface [8086:4de0] (rev 01) Powering up the mini PC and hitting the F7 key results in a boot menu that includes access to the UEFI (BIOS) which is relatively unrestricted. Final Observations Powering up the mini PC and hitting the F7 key results in a boot menu that includes access to the BIOS which is unrestricted. Final Observations Step 1 , If can't booting from Ubuntu bootable disk, please change BIOS Setting to allow booting from Ubuntu bootable disk .( GeminiLakeJ4125&J4105&N4020&N4000,no need to set BIOS for other platforms)

MeLE’s newly launched Quieter3C is an update to their earlier Quieter3Q product which replaces one of the Type-A USB ports with a Type-C USB port and includes both power delivery and video display output, together with changing one of the HDMI ports to a mini DisplayPort. MeLE kindly sent one for review and given these are the only differences I’m only going to take a cursory look at performance benchmarks together with looking at these new features. MeLE Quieter3C hardware overviewDuring the stress test, the maximum temperature I recorded on the top of the device was around 55.6°C at an ambient room temperature of 14.1°C with the device not being too hot to touch. Networking (Ethernet and WiFi) However, during testing, this only decreased the temperature of the top of the device by a single degree from 55.6°C on the Quieter3Q to 54.6°C on the MeLE Quieter3C. Under prolonged usage, this modification may be more noticeable. Final Observations When booting Ubuntu 22.04.1, there was the usual UEFI (BIOS) error being reported in the ‘dmesg’ that appears common with Jasper Lake mini PCs and whose significance of which has not been determined:
