About this deal

For me, it goes in cycles. I’m constantly changing where I think I’m going to end up. I think it has to be like that because technology is constantly changing. Out in Tech is a non-profit that unites the LGBTQ+ tech community around the world. We do this by creating opportunities for our 40,000 members worldwide to advance their careers, grow their networks, and leverage tech for social change. We envision a tech industry where LGBTQ+ people are empowered, well represented, and have full agency, from intern to CEO.

Abadesi Osunsade, CEO and founder of Hustle Crew, a community whose aim is to make tech more inclusive. Staff (December 6, 2017). "The 25 Best Albums of 2017". Slant Magazine . Retrieved December 11, 2017. ARIA Charts – Accreditations – 2023 Albums" (PDF). Australian Recording Industry Association . Retrieved June 6, 2023.In 2013, Anne-Marie co-founded Stemettes, an award-winning social initiative dedicated to inspiring and promoting the next generation of young women in the STEM sectors. Since its inception 10 years ago, it has exposed more than 60,000 girls across Europe to her vision for a more diverse and balanced science and tech community. The IoT Tech Expo will showcase the most cutting-edge technologies from hundreds of exhibitors and provide insight from over 100+ speakers sharing their unparalleled industry knowledge and real-life experiences. State your name on arrival at the venue, allowing plenty of time before the event starts. Ensure that you take employment and personal ID with you or you may be turned away. I’m constantly learning how to manage, how to hire, how to deal with partners. At Stemettes we’re now adding a charity side, so figuring out how to work with donors will be another massively different kind of relationship. When we started Stemettes in 2013, the stats were that almost 50% of the schools in the country didn’t have any girls doing A-Level Physics. So, these girls feel like they are the only ones in their school even though they aren’t the only ones in the country in that position. So, I asked: “How do we connect these people?” If you’ve got mentors and a network, you’re more likely to have the resilience to stay in STEM.

It’s alarming how much folks feel like they’re being left behind. Understanding tech now, in our everyday lives, shouldn’t be anything to do with the relationship you had with maths at school any more than the music you listen to today should have anything to do with your old music teacher. Learn the essential skills for speaking more confidently about grief at work with our speaker, Faith Holloway. Faith, who leads the Compassionate Employers programme at Hospice UK, brings a wealth of knowledge from supporting over 100,000 employees through grief, caring, and terminal illness. Do you believe there are still barriers for success for women working in tech, if so, how can these barriers be overcome?

Nicholson, Rebecca (July 29, 2017). "SZA: 'The record company took my hard drive from me' ". The Guardian– via www.theguardian.com. We’re giving girls an opportunity to grow up with a different social norm and giving them a shared experience of what a majority female industry looks like. I’m a doer but I’m not the type of person that puts pressure on myself to be the first or the best. That’s not really the way I live my life. My motivations have obviously changed as I’ve gotten older, but really, I’m just here for a good time. Some might assume you were put under pressure from people around you growing up. It’s interesting to hear you say you were just following what you were good at… More than role models, I had the right people around me who wanted to open opportunities for me. I believe that if you can see it, then you can be it. For me, I could see the tech and the logic – this was my motivation. Do you think you went into STEM for your sheer love and enjoyment of it? Out in Tech London is here to provide an inclusive networking space for LGBTQ+ people and allies working in tech.

She was catching a medical jet from St.Louis to New Jersey because she spent the rest of her days at my parents’ house; she passed at my mom’s house [in June],” she reflects. “That last week when she was really ill, I went to go perform with DJ Khaled, who I love, at SNL… And in hindsight, that was so dumb. I just wish I spent those last moments with her at home. That was a hard lesson. Like, ‘Great, I perform for a minute and 30 seconds on SNL and I lost my grandma for the rest of my life.’” She draws on her own experience and the stories of other pioneers and innovators who have, against the odds, transformed technology.
