About this deal

headphones feature custom tuned 40 mm dynamic drivers that produce a superior signature sound only Marshall can deliver. Thanks to the coronavirus, I wasn’t able to convene a full panel of outside listeners, but I was able to coax saxophonist and music industry pro LeRena Major in for a quick listening session before Los Angeles pretty much shut down. You get the minimal, all-black colorway complete with a gold accent on the control knob and the white logo on the side of each ear cup.

Equipped with custom-tuned 40mm dynamic drivers, one of the most utterly astounding first impressions that immediately hit me when testing the Marshall Monitor IIs was the sheer breadth of its soundscape. If you don’t want to dive into the app, you can switch between three different presets by tapping the ‘M’ button on the headphones. Mike Massé’s live recording of Blackbird is delivered with a delicate poise and attention to detail that allows you to not only hear the vocals and guitar but also take in the ambience of the venue at the same time. It will take a while to update our backlog of old test results, but we will update this review (and many others!Several hours of continuous listening don’t cause any headache or pressure, and I don’t feel like I need to take them off after an hour or two. Most of the modes in the Marshall app are similarly unappealing, creating an unnatural tonal balance that you probably won’t enjoy for long.

They sound pretty good to my ears, too, and although they won’t suit those who treasure the throb of whomping bass, they sound great with most genres of music. If you’ve used the transparency mode on other pairs of headphones like the Sony WH-1000XM4, Apple AirPods Pro, or the Jabra Elite 7 Active, then you know how useful a feature this can be. Though there haven't been any massive overhauls in terms of design here, the addition of Bluetooth is more than welcome.Substituting the Marshall Monitor II headphones for my regular earbuds, I them every day for weeks on end during commutes, gym trips, and day-to-day work to ensure I had a thorough testing experience. After 60 years of excellence from Marshall with years upon years of brilliant headphones, celebrations were certainly due.

This makes the Marshall Monitors a great over-ear option for commuters and frequent travelers as they’re extremely easy to put neatly into your bag or spacious pocket. You can switch between active noise cancelling, Monitoring Mode or no noise cancelling with the dedicated ANC button. The headband is wrapped in leather and even the exposed coiled cables are thick and feel tough to the touch. Howard Shore's epic soundtrack is perhaps one of the most glorious ever put to screen - and with the Marshall Monitor II's - it's never been clearer just how powerful it truly is.Emma Boyle is TechRadar’s ex-Gaming Editor, and is now a content developer and freelance journalist. And it’s not just their all-black design, emphasised by the white accentuated lettering and a golden button on the ear cups, that underlines their rocking attitude. It’s unmistakably a pair of Marshall headphones and looks almost exactly like all of the company’s other products. A well-weighted, nicely designed set of headphones is one thing, but looks can be deceiving - how does the sound hold up to scrutiny? The headphones don’t clamp particularly strongly to the sides of your head, however, which can make it tricky to adjust them so they completely block out external noise.

jacks for sharing music, the big new addition this time around is far more practical: active noise cancellation. In Marshall's efforts to bring some pep into the Diamond Jubilee re-release, the Monitor II ditches the admittedly more travel-friendly canvas bag for an unquestionably gorgeous vinyl leather material with a soft felt interior for protecting your precious headphones. The sound quality is good enough for my non-audiophile ears, and the Active Noise Cancellation is acceptable.or a wired connection - so if you're craving just that extra punch of volume or the Monitor IIs happen to be flat out of battery - you've always got a backup. Like Marshall’s previous headphones, the Monitor II ANCs are designed for those who want to wear the brand with pride, with the Marshall logo embossed in white script on the outer housing of each ear cup. They sound great, come with good noise cancelation, and they boast tons of cool rock heritage – it’s just a shame that Marshall couldn't undercut Sony by a little bit more to provide a truly cheaper alternative. But was it fair for one headphone to have the advantage of EQ and the other to be playing au naturel? Pressing the button will immediately turn off the noise canceling and pause your music so that you can hear what’s going on around you.
