Every word from our editor is understandable, yes. But is it good enough for video conferencing? No. Often times, people who are going to use earplugs for business want a better microphone than this. The earbuds themselves are very light, so light if fact you really can’t feel any kind of significant weight in your ears when wearing them – they weigh around 4g each (the total weight of the two earbuds and charging case is only 32g). Despite the lightweight feel, ergonomic design and their low profile size they are excellent quality, fit really well and are very snug, are so comfortable to wear and do not have that cheap feel. The box contains everything you’ll need to get setup. It even includes a couple of spare silicone ear tips of different sizes. So you’ll be able to find one to fit your ears however large or small! You can watch videos or play online games on both iPhone and Android without noticeable audio delay, even in YouTube or Netflix app which is always a challenge on iPhone. However, it did well. The charging case is equally nondescript with the same material choice and colour as the Edifier X3 buds themselves. With a small magnet keeping the charging case together, there is only a micro-USB charging port, and a small ‘Edifier’ logo adorning the caddy. There are no LED notifications anywhere, only on the buds themselves.

The price and feature list can’t be ignored, they’re a powerhouse in terms of a budget offering. And to feature such a good quality microphone for the price, thy can’t be sniffed at! Both the left and right bud are each equipped with a 60mAh battery. This gives you almost 5 hours of battery life if you listen as loud as they’ll go, which is of course not recommended due to long term ear damage! When it comes to the microphone, it has a built-in mic with CVC 8.0 noise reduction technology. In our test, it performed fine but if you’re in a really noisy environment, the person on the other end might not be able to hear you that well. Taking it out from the box, I immediately realised how tiny it is. It is literally a petite sized earbuds, including the charging case. This may be good because it doesn’t take up much space in your bag or handbag, but it might be hard to find because of how small it is.

The build is good. Far better than I expected for such a budget pair of earbuds and I can see them lasting me for a very long time. The longevity of them would also entirely depend on the internal components of which I can’t really put through their paces, so only time will tell if they live up to my expectations.

The earbuds are equipped with a CVC V.8.0 noise-cancellation technology that reduces environmental noise, effectively providing high-quality passive noise isolation for an immersive user experience. The most outspoken part of the X3's sound signature, is the vocals. They sound forward, no matter if it's darker male voices or the highest-pitched (female) voices. Singers sound clear and take a prominent role in the music, without overruling instruments or other frequencies. There's a good level of detail overall. Overall, I think the earbuds provide a well-made construction and finish for the price which feels good. The shape of the earbuds is well suited for the ear as the underside has an ergonomic design that fits well. Charging Case As for the earbuds themselves, they have a low profile design to them. This means they’re thin enough that they won’t jut out too much from your ears. They have the same matte texture as the charging case, and they’re extremely light (4.8g each). That being said, they don’t feel cheap at all. My current day to day headphones are the AirPods and they take a fair bit of punishment throughout the day.By now, you should know I’m a big fan of audio freedom, and that means no cables at all when it comes to audio enjoyment. The Edifier X3 TWS earbuds caught my attention because of its price and features. Edifier was kind enough to send us a unit for review, we tried it for a week and here’s our thoughts on the Edifier X3. Edifier claims better bass response for the X3 TO-U Series. If you’re looking for a pair of true wireless earbuds that sound great and are affordable, the Edifier X3 are a fantastic option. I am very impressed with the sound they deliver, and they come in a compact and portable form-factor. The Edifier X3 features aptX-encoded ultra-low latency technology of just 65ms, so audio is ahead of video or game. But can you hear yourself too? Not very clear. This is due to the silicone ear tips that really close seamlessly in your ear. It is striking that the ear tips are slightly longer than other ear tips. Only the choice of which action is behind which control is bad in our opinion. There are many double controls and other functions cannot be operated with the touch control. How does the touch control of the Edifier X3 work? The earbuds themselves have a lightweight plastic build. It has a matte finish, which helps to prevent scratches and pesky fingerprint stains.The earbuds feature Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, which will bring added benefits to your listening experience if the device that you are connected to supports Bluetooth 5.0, such as better range and performance. I love Edifier’s audio gear. It’s great quality and their audio equipment always does what they say it’ll do. They’re no if’s, but’s or maybes, it just works. The Edifier X3's microphone is fine for the price. It does its job. You can be understood by your conversation partners and that is the most important thing.

Strangely, the product information for the Edifier X3 mentions that you can accept / reject calls. I couldn’t seem to find that function with this review unit. Despite that, I’m still fine without it as I often answer call directly on my phone. Battery Life The Edifier X3 TWS earbuds each have a 60mAh battery in them that gives about 4 hours 55 minutes of battery life on maximum volume. The charging case has a 500mAh battery that gives it an additional 15 hours of usage, which is pretty sweet considering the price tag of the X3 TWS earbuds. It can definitely last you the entire day. For my sound test I listened to Eminem’s latest album called ‘Music To Be Murdered By’. As with most hip-hop, a good low end is essential to get the most out of the music. Despite being a pair of budget earbuds, the Edifier X3 comes with a touch control panel. The earbuds come fitted with a high-precision touchpad which we were greatly impressed by. It was easy to control and very responsive. Considering its price, the sound quality on the Edifier X3 was actually pretty good. The earbuds are equipped with Qualcomm® aptX™ audio decoding technology and SBC codec support which are designed to improve Bluetooth sound quality.

The Edifier X3 TWS sounds the best when listening to acoustic and pop. It can be used to listen to EDM and hip-hop, but you might want to dial down the volume when you do. The earbuds sound to have a warmer sound signature, which favours bass a little, but it is not overwhelming or unpleasant to listen to – I am a big fan of how these earbuds sound, especially considering the price-point.
